Fields of blood

We are amazed and awed at the amount of RVR we have seen on Phoenix Throne so far.

cwmap

This map represents Friday night at about 6:30 p.m. Pacific time. FotF is headed into the fray!

As we slowly accumulate Annihilator and Conquerer gear, we are getting less squishy. We stood toe to toe with one of the better Bright Wizard bomb groups on the server. I am confident once we get equivalent gear that they won’t stand a chance.

Apparently our guild is getting a bit of a reputation (if only for the guild name). I discourage bragging on forums. It’s sometimes hard not to provide advice without seeming like you’re bragging. I don’t want to come off as arrogant (oh but on this server we did it this way and it worked).

keepd

But sometimes you really can’t help it. We had a keep defense that everyone thought we would lose. The tank wall was rather massive, though, and I had every confidence that we would prevail. That is, until the people on the tank wall left the wall to chase down people who got past /facepalm.

We steered them (in a not-so-nice way) to get back onto the wall and hold fast. We prevailed and chased them out of the keep!

I anticipate more fun today and Sunday.

Skull Throne report: Tier 2

Saturday and Sunday were the first two days I really had to play in T2. Mostly before, I was PVEing during the week before work. Mornings are never a good time to find action. Order did not disappoint. We had a group-and-a-half of Fight on the Flag queueing together for much of the day Sunday.

It was such a blast!

Fighting on the flag in Phoenix Gate

And on some occasions, we managed to get nine of our guildies in the same scenario! Sorry Order, I felt sorry for some of you guys. You definitely put up a great fight.

Caledor Woods, fortress seige and recruitment

I think much of the reason FOTF tries to push Dragonwake is because Caledor Woods and the zone Caledor are so much fun. The scenario is like the Temple of Isha scenario from T3.

Massive fights at the center BO in Caledor are also worthwhile. This doesn’t ever seem to happen in Dragonwake, where the warcamps are separated by the length of the zone.

Caledor, middle BO, awesome fight!

Last night, we had the opportunity to participate in a fortress seige. Apparently some pretty significant changes went into effect for the fortresses, all of which was completely lost on me because I don’t obsess over the patch notes. Well, other’s dont either, because when we went up, a bunch of people died and started crying for a res. I don’t mind people crying for a res, because I like to res them. But one of the changes was to prevent healers from ressing while the fortress lord was aggro. Doh!

Fortress Destro tank wall, ur doin it… pretti well, akshully.

HNY, gearing up and killing Destro

After Fight on the Flag got roflstomped in a Serpent’s Passage, we checked out the gear of our foes. Damn. Lost Vale gear. Fortunately we found that sentinal gear is a breeze to get. After a few hesitant tries, we got through Sigmar Crypts without wiping the second time we went. Warpblade Tunnels also seems easy. I’m not sure what everyone was complaining about.

It was so easy I was able to mock someone else’s guild name while we were pulling.

Fortunately we cleared both by Friday so we can PVP all weekend! Enough about that boring PVE. Order has been reliably pushing to Caledor recently. Yes, we do lock zones. That means we can go to Caledor Woods, by far and away our favorite scenario.

There was a whole lot more waving going on than this. I was almost embarrassed.

Basically for those familiar with T3 scenarios, it’s just like Temple of Isha, except you can’t pick up the ball that gives you bonus to DPS. It’s just one node to take over, and this is super easy with a coordinated group and someone yelling at nubs to kill healers and witch elves.

Nordenpwn

For the record, if you want to level while PVPing you should fly to the Chaos vs. Empire zone and queue from there. While the other scenarios are fun, it’s a much longer wait. And so all five of our members have been doing quests in that area to take advantage of the much faster queue times.

So a few days ago, Perle, Saaz, Organdonar and Arle all entered
Nordenwatch together and basically butchered the Chaos forces. It’s not hard to do so with a somewhat organized group. Saaz is a swordmaster, Organ is a runemaster and Arle and I are archmages… Three healers to one tank. They couldn’t even dent Saaz.

Saaz, in white, with Organdonar, Arle and Perle healing.

Unfortunately logic was not the word of the day. Despite our organization, not everyone was on board with our tactics.

Saturday AB woes and qotd

We had a good win/loss ratio, but the losses we had were frustrating. The losses boiled down to either being out geared or having too few people to make up for the pugs. I made some macros (played by Kinare) to help the pugs understand our strats.

Quote of the day

We did eventually win this game with a 5 cap. They just gave up completely. We had two games all day where they completely gave up. But I think as a guild we only played about 15 games.

Weekend pvp review

It was Warsong Gulch weekend and we were awesome. We actually fielded a full team (guild only) twice over the weekend, and we had people on a wait list to get in.

Names blurred to protect the innocent.

We also did some AB to mix it up, where we gained a few fans:

But we wanted more variety, so we hoofed it to Alterac Valley.

QOTD: EOTS weekend

Various musings from people around the server. Of course, how could I start this off without a little FotF promotion:

Saturday we warmed up before EOTS with some Valley. Of course Allies try to push through the back, and that’s where the most fun for pvp can be had. We always defend right between the two towers and hope that offense does its job. It’s a surprisingly effective tactic, because if you break the Allied first charge, they tend to become disorganized. I don’t have screens of the actual fight, so you’ll have to trust me. But about 11 Horde fought 30 allies. We scraped by, just barely.

A good friend of ours, Moodred, commented on one of my recruitment messages:

That’s all she wrote. Keep an eye out for a post about how 2.4 is going to affect pvp.

Quote of the Day and Halaa action

Posting relevant quotes that I received over the weekend:

Amen brother!

A few of us also had a good time in Alterac Valley, and we heard this gem:

Almost our guild name but I’ll take it. Halaa below the fold.
