Why Order wins fortress assaults on PT

Order really knows how to assault a fortress. Yes, they pop cap the fort just like Gorfang does. And yet, Gorfang cannot assault a fortress unless nobody is there to defend.

Here’s why:

fortreinforce

Check out that Order zerg at the zone line to Fell Landing. They are waiting for the first push to wipe. It doesn’t take rocket science to figure out, guys. Really, the last time I saw a pop capped fort on Gorfang, the people who didn’t get in were pouting and screaming in region chat about the injustice of it all.

This is a seriously organized group of Order that we are fighting. All the more challenge for us here on Phoenix Throne.

Almost ready to PVP on Phoenix Throne

Fight on the Flag is { } this close to being able to PVP with the big guys. With the boost of a very generous Destruction player who was quitting the game anyway, we powerleveled our way through boredom and lack of sleep.

Yeah, granted we have level 37 greens for armor. Yes, we aren’t all 40 yet. What we lack in gear we make up for in enthusiasm and organization.

From the looks of the Order zerg, we’re going to need it.

It’s hard to tell from this angle, but there’s a huge wave of Order zerging up over the hill.

clumped

Here’s another angle. And I’m told this is a small force. On Gorfang this would have been a great RVR night.

We are looking forward to all that this server has to offer. We are not looking back to Gorfang at this time. Maybe if things change, but we’re not holding our breath.

PVP weekend report and new member

We had several exciting fights this weekend, but nothing was as exciting as a former DAOC guildmate finding Pylith on Facebook and then joining the guild.

Welcome back Kuvasz! She played an armswoman in DAOC and ran with our 8-man gank squad. After New Frontiers, we all quit because we were tired of keep humping (sound familiar?).

bombdest

We had exciting times on Saturday in Praag, whipping up several groups of Destro into tasty batches of renown. I managed to get RR71, so I guess I drop Royal Crests now. With the number of Destro who zerg around me now, I probably should hire a Swordmaster to guard me :p

Unfortunately it seems Doorhammer is all we do now if we want to see RVR. Destro is too wary of our group (unless they have 150 of them defending a fortress and all we have is eight people, like on Monday night).

fortzerg

Yes, underneath the hooves of the Destro warhorses is a dead ginger-headed freak (Bright Wizards is what we call them on Order side). We couldn’t find any RVR until we realized a fort had been taken and Order left to go somewhere else. We investigated and found tons and tons and TONS of Destro outside Fell Landing.

I would be lying if I said our first attempts were anything but utter defeat. In our defense we were missing a couple of key players, but we managed to kill equal to our number before we died.

Join us on Skull Throne (for now)

Doing our part to reduce the Gorfang/Order population.

Because of the dwindling quality of RVR on Gorfang, Fight on the Flag is temporarily rolling alts on Skull Throne/Destruction. We love playing our characters on Gorfang, and the Order team there is great. However, anytime we fight in RVR it seems the Destro are always woefully outnumbered.

We do know that there are more Destro level 40 accounts than Order. Why Destro opts not to play I am not sure. In any case, we feel the only way to promote balance and help the Destro is by not PVPing there. Many of us had taken to rolling alts anyway. We figured if we were going to roll more alts, we would switch servers. That way if the RVR continues to suck on Gorfang we at least have a backup plan.

Now, if there is quality RVR on Gorfang, we would like to be there for it. Order folks who know our Vent information are welcome to come into the channel and ask for us to show up.

If anyone wants to join us on Skull Throne/Destro, please do so (even Destro if you want to play with some laid back and cool people). We picked Skull Throne specifically for the reasons why we wish more people would pick Gorfang/Destruction: They need the help of an organizing force and there are a lot of people of the opposite faction to kill.

So far the action has not been too disappointing. The Tier 1 scenarios have been popping like crazy, except for a couple of hours so far. After a brief unscientific poll, it appears Tier 4 scenarios are also frequently manned.

WTB Destro in Tier 4

Come on guys, it’s seriously lonely at the top. Desto have put up next to no fight in nearly a month. While we are loathe to do it, FOTF members have rolled alts to get a piece of the action in the lower tiers.

Considering how few members we have (eight at this posting, and we all have level 40 alts), you can be sure if you see one of us it’s probably one of the crew that you see every day.

I rolled a white lion named Cascade, and I named my lion Tfourislonely (thanks for the awesome suggestion Dworf!).

In any case, we’re still recruiting both a BFF for Riamin and more members at FOTF. Other than that, the fights have been too boring to report anything of note. We’ve been doing a lot of PVE. Let’s hope the action picks up soon.

Our first 40 and PVP report

Congratulations to Pylith for being Fight on the Flag’s first level 40! Pylith was behind the rest of us by about two weeks because he was in Texas cleaning up after hurricane Ike. And we were worried! Hah. Pylith persisted and outleveled us all.

He hoped Sunday would be the day, so we started off with some scenarios, but soon found an excellent AE grind spot and sat there for a few hours. We went to lunch and came back and decided to finish up in the scenarios. I managed to get a screenshot of the moment:

We would also like to thank Enelira and the many Destruction who were slain before her who made this possible. Needless to say we all look forward to the day when we are 40 and can RVR instead of do scenarios all day.

Otherwise we had much fun running scenarios and some open RVR on Sunday. For once we ran scenarios that were not Serpent’s Passage:

Grovad Cavarns was a nice change of pace and we won one game 400-2. Destruction isn’t usually that bad so I wonder what that was about.

We also had some fun in open RVR this weekend. We took an objective in Dragonwake and ran into a group of Destruction when trying to take the objective near their war camp. Good fights all :)

No leaderboards this week. I think the Herald Web site is wonky due to the recent server transfers.

Welcome Bleeder as a new officer!

Ever since he joined the guild, Bleeder has really been about one thing: PVP. He’s been a leader for a while so it’s only fitting that he have the title to boot.

Thanks man! Now you’re an officer. I’m not sure what that means, other than you get officer chat (which we rarely use by the way unless we’re booting someone because they’re annoying).

Oh, and here’s a random pic of an AB fight we did yesterday when we had a 11/15 premade:

Notice LM under control and two more nodes under assault. We 5-capped that game.

LF PVP leaders for weekdays

We’re looking for someone to step up his or her role in the guild and start leading PVP excursions for guildmates on the weekdays. Said person, if consistent, will earn an officer rank with access to officer chat along with the guild invite ability of currently ranked veterans.

If you are interested, please let a current officer know in game.

Personally it would be nice to know that the organized PVP is not going to die off once we log.

Requirements below.

The birth of Rule #7: No one under 18 allowed

Every rule is born because of someone. We decided not to embarrass him too much, so we’re not going to name him. But his constant annoying manner grated on many members of <Fight on the Flag>. As such, we did two things in his honor: created a new guild rank called “STFU and Level,” which silenced people of that rank.

The second is we created a special rule: Nobody under 18 allowed.

Screen shot proof below…

Scroll of ressurection

I’m not sure how he did it, but Pylith convinced a good friend of ours to return to the game. If you read our “about” page, then you’ll see Pylith, Perle and Huller have played together for almost six years.

Now, Pylith has been bugging Organdonar for quite some time to come back. They’ve been playing together for more than a decade, starting with Descent.

Welcome back Organdonar! Pic below the fold.
