Premade fever

We did some guild premades Saturday and the group ranged from eight to 12 people. Not all were guildies (Hai2u Aryx and Xblue!), but friends of guild are always welcome here :) Don’t hesitate to ask to join us in PVP.

Anyway, we initially were going to just do AV. As a perverted test, I was going to see how long it would really take us to get into the other battlegrounds.  To my intense surprise, we got in near immediately to Basin:

The same happened for a few WSG games, and it seemed premades were back. Unfortunately we were fighting pugs the whole time. It made me wonder if Blizzard had stealth fixed it.

Alas, we queued for WSG again, and the timer climbed from 23 minutes to 38 minutes to more than an hour.

We didn’t take the queue, which to me explains why we had faced so many pugs in the previous games. Poor pugs. They’re still getting stomped by premades because the premades don’t like waiting an hour or more to kill people. Man, I really feel for those puggers…. Oh wait… Hmm.. This isn’t working…

You can’t expect me to feel sorry for them can you? I didn’t think so.

We went into AV to mix it up old school style! First we defended Galv, which always breaks up the Alliance charge.

One good thing about the patch: AV Rocks!

Despite the massive shortcomings of patch 2.4, I have to say AV is awesome now. We all thought the horde would suffer because they moved our starting point back to near our base, but this is not the case.

Oh noes! PVP in a BG? Say it ain’t so!

AV battles are like those of old. One last night lasted 45 minutes. We would’ve summoned Lokhar, but the BG was too busy crying because Spitey took Snowfall Graveyard. So for now fellas, please download the new version of Preform AV Enabler. If we are going to be able to do anything as a guild, it’s going to be either AV or world PVP.

See you on the battlefield!

Weekend wrapup

Even though it was AV weekend, we didn’t do much in Valley. Our groups of five to 10 people cannot make that much of a difference to the alliance zerg, and honestly, there’s too much AFK going on. I hate picking up the slack of AFKers. It’s too much work for not that much effort. Those of us who did brave AV took towers and graveyards in hopes of getting more than 100 honor per run, where we gained some fans:

We got bored and decided to try some world PVP. We’d never really done that as a guild before except for Halaa. Halaa was ours so we headed to Honor hold.

AV weekend coming

AV weekend is coming up so please have Preform AV enabler downloaded and ready to go.

A reminder of how this works:

Step 1: Install and enable Preform AV enabler.

Step 2: Group with a guild group.

Step 3: Profi… er… Go talk to the AV battlemaster and sit there with the window open. You’ll notice to the bottom left of the window that there’s a button that says “Preform AV enabler.” If you click that, you can tell who has the window open or not.

Step 4: Wait. The raid leader should wait until everyone has the window open. The leader then pushes a button to queue everyone at the same time. Now, despite what people in general chat say (because we know they are all such experts), it’s not an illegal mod. Preform AV enabler is basically the same thing as everyone having the window open, and counting down on Vent and queueing at the same time.

Step 5: DO NOT CLICK ANYTHING! The raid leader has the ability to put everyone in the BG or to cancel queue. It’s also a good idea not to run off anywhere just in case you have to requeue. Remain in Vent. Hopefully the queues are not long.

Weekend pvp review

It was Warsong Gulch weekend and we were awesome. We actually fielded a full team (guild only) twice over the weekend, and we had people on a wait list to get in.

Names blurred to protect the innocent.

We also did some AB to mix it up, where we gained a few fans:

But we wanted more variety, so we hoofed it to Alterac Valley.

Saturday pvp: AV, AB and Halaa

Obligatory opening quote (from AB):

We did quite a bit of Alterac Valley today, as it is AV weekend. Bright and early we started out competing for players in a premade AV. Honestly I didn’t like it much. It was like herding cats. People seem to think that they can join a premade and it magically makes them suck less. No. It doesn’t.

After reaching a high point of about 25 players, we had a few people leave, either out of boredom or frustration (we have long “turtle” games because we actually have fun in PVP instead of running like zombies to the end). Then we had the really cool people left, mostly from guild but a few who were not. At least I added a couple more to my friends list :)

And we also did some AB (one EOTS for the daily). We three to five capped each AB we joined, as we had about seven players.

Oh and we were up against a top-tier guild from another server (I forget which one). They had two rogues with Twinblades of Azzinoth.

But I look like Illidan, how can I still suck?!

QOTD: EOTS weekend

Various musings from people around the server. Of course, how could I start this off without a little FotF promotion:

Saturday we warmed up before EOTS with some Valley. Of course Allies try to push through the back, and that’s where the most fun for pvp can be had. We always defend right between the two towers and hope that offense does its job. It’s a surprisingly effective tactic, because if you break the Allied first charge, they tend to become disorganized. I don’t have screens of the actual fight, so you’ll have to trust me. But about 11 Horde fought 30 allies. We scraped by, just barely.

A good friend of ours, Moodred, commented on one of my recruitment messages:

That’s all she wrote. Keep an eye out for a post about how 2.4 is going to affect pvp.
