Sunday curbstomp

As per usual, the battles this weekend were amazing. In some cases, they were a bit more than we wanted. Sometimes we were outnumbered 3:1 or more. When we saw five Bright Wizards running at us followed by a sea of red, we got a bit frustrated and demoralized.

owie

Understandable right? We decided to take the battle to a place we thought we could hold, the house BO in south Praag.

napalm

We were dominated there, too, but not without taking an equal number of Order down with us.  No, we didn’t install new carpet. Just look at all that napalm!

Our best fight of the day was at Squiggly Beast Pens when Destruction was trying to flip Black Crag. At the time I think we had eight people, and not all of them were 40. We wiped once, and just in time the reinforcement zerg came to res us and kill the enemy. It was grand.

Again and again, the Order force advanced, and yet we parted the red sea of names with ease. After all, we did have Moses on our side.

moses

Lost Vale wasn’t as successful this past week. We didn’t get past Gorak (the lightning guy). Any tanks interested in running with us? Give us a holler. We run on Saturday mornings, 7 a.m. PST, but can probably change the time depending on need.

Oompaloompa zerg

dwarvesSo Flags in Space ran some scenarios together and we managed to get into Logrins Forge. We checked out our opponents, as we always do, and noticed they were all dwarves.

I wish I had recorded the vent conversations. It was freaking hilarious.

“It’s like an adorable, terrifying zerg.”

“I feel like I’m killing puppies.”

And…

“There’s this dwarf back here snaring me and rooting me… ”

“And biting your ankles?”

They were pushovers but they didn’t have far to fall.

anklebiterzerg

We entered with the scenario with our flags drawn. As we pushed forward, a sneaky dwarf stole Contamination’s flag.

krohm

Krohm, you have made a mortal enemy. There is now a price on your head for the blatant theft of our precious flag!

Almost ready to PVP on Phoenix Throne

Fight on the Flag is { } this close to being able to PVP with the big guys. With the boost of a very generous Destruction player who was quitting the game anyway, we powerleveled our way through boredom and lack of sleep.

Yeah, granted we have level 37 greens for armor. Yes, we aren’t all 40 yet. What we lack in gear we make up for in enthusiasm and organization.

From the looks of the Order zerg, we’re going to need it.

orderzerg

It’s hard to tell from this angle, but there’s a huge wave of Order zerging up over the hill.

clumped

Here’s another angle. And I’m told this is a small force. On Gorfang this would have been a great RVR night.

We are looking forward to all that this server has to offer. We are not looking back to Gorfang at this time. Maybe if things change, but we’re not holding our breath.

When the PVP is good, it’s awesome, but…

PVP this weekend was very off and on. We didn’t have any action Saturday until well after noon. Sunday in the morning, we thwarted what I think was a Destruction attempt to push zones in preparation for a later city push. They had a couple (or more) warbands out.

praagfightsIt was a lot of fun in Praag fighting in the middle and at the graveyard. The only problem is the fights would be awesome for maybe an hour, then Destro would leave and go hide for a few hours. This was great for our guild rank because we started powerleveling necessary alts. But it was terrible for morale.

Our high points were really high. One fight on Sunday, we had seven people near the east keep in Caledor. Destruction was headed toward the East BO maybe? I forget why they were there, but we wiped them with our seven people. Nobody else was around.

omgfight

After that, they came back again and again. We used the terrain to our advantage, and I hugged trees and rocks to stay away from those pesky Squig Herders.

We then made the tactical mistake of getting impatient and chasing one group. We got sandwiched by another warband that had been hiding in the keep.

Ultimate Dragonwake ORVR fight

I’ve been playing around with Fraps quite a lot lately. Here is another fight from May 17, where FOTF, TS and some other folks ran to look for the Destro zerg. And boy, did we find them!

What followed was a fight from the big bridge in Dragonwake all the way to the Destruction warcamp. The fight actually lasted about seven minutes, but I compressed the entire thing down to three. Enjoy!

Such an intense, crazy fight!

On another note, FOTS (as we now call the combination of Fight on the Flag and Temporal Space) has been avoiding keep assaults. We timed how long it took for us to get through the first and second doors of a rank four keep: nearly half an hour. That was with two warbands banging on the door.

By the way, no new videos until I get a special project completed. Hopefully I will have more word of said project in the coming week.

FotFail: BO failure last weekend

I thought I’d also show the failures of our RVR attempts. Sunday in Chaos Wastes, we were trying to prevent a BO capture. Problem was, we were in the far south of the zone when it was taken, and the BO was to the north. We decided to try to kill Destro anyway, even though we wouldn’t get the cap. (Click HQ for high quality.)

Ugh, nine verses at least a warband. That was really painful.

For those of you on Twitter, I wanted to let you know that Fight on the Flag now has a Twitter account. Actually, we started it a long time ago, back when we started the game, and haven’t used it since. I plan to use TweetDeck to follow other Warhammer tweeters.

South KV keep defense

Thought I would throw up another video of FOTF/TS taking down two warbands of Destruction at the south keep in Kadrin Valley. This was one of those ultimate Warhammer moments I will never forget. (Click HQ to view in high quality.)

Khaevil was talking in this, but unfortunately I had him muted (we are in the same room after all).

I was really skeptical that we would win this fight, and yet we did. Look at all of the Destruction! I am pretty sure we were the only people there. If we weren’t there was maybe a handful of Order with us. Great teamwork all around!

Awesome, amazing PVP weekend

I cannot be more happy with the state of Gorfang than I am right now. The Destruction have returned in force and there are some amazing fights to be had. I only wish my commute didn’t suck (1 hour each way) so I could PVP more :(

View the following screenshots as an example of the fights we were in Sunday (click for higher resolution).

The first two are from two separate attacks on the north Battlefield Objective in Reikland, one from a defense and another from an assault where we are defending from the Destro trying to take it back.

The second two pictures are when 2-3 groups of Order took the far east BO in Caledor and defended against a seemingly insurmountable force of Destruction. They just kept coming and that fight lasted at least 10 minutes, based on my timers from using action point potions. That was an incredibly epic fight.

Destruction succeeded in taking two fortresses at once and entered Altdorf for the first time. Congratulations! (Though the first take was marred by the buggy Fortress lord in Reikwald, d’oh!)

Battered Order Shelter = Shining Way Fortress

It’s been a while since Order had their collective asses handed to them. FOTF was ready for yet another day of playing alts to find any semblance of RVR action when we heard of a couple of Destro warbands.

I didn’t take the threat seriously until they flipped Caledor.

The rest of the night I can only equate to how a battered woman feels when her abusive boyfriend returns after a long period away from her: skittish, excited and afraid at the same time. I remember the days when Destro zerged the server so hard that Order were demoralized and weak. Then a few server transfers brought more people to the Gorfang and the Destro had some infighting

After Caledor flipped, I put out the rallying cry in alliance chat and told people to join my warband and get in vent. At this point the Destro had already claimed Covenant of Flame. When Destro hit Drakebreakers we had a whopping two groups.

So we did what we FOTF tries to do best. We queued for Serpent’s passage.

The beatdown was humiliating and awesome.

What happened next is something that hasn’t happened in a long time. We got stomped. It’s hard not to get stomped when you have a full group of PUG in the scenario. Somehow Destro made everyone who was not level 40 stay out of the scenario queue and only let the pro players go in preset groups.

After our beatdown, we went to Drakebreakers, but Destro rolled through us like we weren’t even there.

Destro flood the inside of Drakebreakers Scourge.

Pylith + Rugbyrat = BFF

It’s cool the way you form friendships even across realm lines. I’ve seen Rugbyrat often on the battlefield. He’s always willing to charge out and fight even if his team is hopelessly lost.

Here he’s trying to give Pylith a hug… I think… Be careful Rugby!

So anyway, on Sundays the Order tends to take keeps around noon eastern time. Why don’t we see Destro defending? :( My theory is they are all in Sunday School.
