Anyway, we initially were going to just do AV. As a perverted test, I was going to see how long it would really take us to get into the other battlegrounds.  To my intense surprise, we got in near immediately to Basin:

The same happened for a few WSG games, and it seemed premades were back. Unfortunately we were fighting pugs the whole time. It made me wonder if Blizzard had stealth fixed it.

Alas, we queued for WSG again, and the timer climbed from 23 minutes to 38 minutes to more than an hour.

We didn’t take the queue, which to me explains why we had faced so many pugs in the previous games. Poor pugs. They’re still getting stomped by premades because the premades don’t like waiting an hour or more to kill people. Man, I really feel for those puggers…. Oh wait… Hmm.. This isn’t working…

You can’t expect me to feel sorry for them can you? I didn’t think so.

We went into AV to mix it up old school style! First we defended Galv, which always breaks up the Alliance charge.

We had some awesome battles (including the classic “OMG YOU TOOK SNOWFALL” complaints. Classic hill fighting like before Burning Crusade took place:

Unfortunately when we tried to break the Alliance turtle by summoning the Ice Lord, it appears he was on vacation:

How many rotating balls can you count? I see at least 20.

We had more than half the raid over there, and he still wouldn’t come back from the Bahamas or wherever he went Maybe he’s broken. Maybe it was a bug for that one BG. But I intend to investigate today (Sunday).

Oh, and I fished a 1 in 1000 catch in Orgrimmar too!

Since the 2.4 patch we’ve had to be creative to enjoy ourselves as a guild in PVP.

I thought I’d combine our love for fishing with PVP. Today and for the past few day’s I’ve fished up about 100 Deviate fish and sent them to Xorena to cook Savory Deviate Delights. These fish, when consumed, turn you either into a pirate or a ninja. We are aiming for pirates.

To complete the pirate disguise, everyone should get a parrot pet from Booty Bay or farm one somehow, AH or what have you. Please also download the Talk like a Pirate mod from curse, here.

If anyone can think of other ways to make us more pirate-y, post on the forums. I’m aiming for Saturday afternoon for this event.

Here are the PVP related changes, from the patch downloader, some bolded for emphasis:

  PvP
– Diminishing returns on honor for kills is being eliminated.
- Honor will now be instantly calculated, and available for player use.
- Players that have the resurrection sickness debuff will be worth no
honor.
– Added new PvP daily quests that send players to Halaa and the Spirit Towers of the Bone Wastes. These quests are available for Alliance and Horde at their respective local quest hubs.

- Arenas
- Personal Rating: The amount a player’s personal rating can climb
above his or her team’s rating is now limited.
- The benefits of drinking out of combat have been delayed while in the Arena. It will now take four seconds before the full benefit of the
mana regeneration will come into effect.
– Queue times for arena matches have been reduced. Players will now be able to enter matches faster than previously.
- Shadow Sight now increases damage taken by 5% rather than dealing damage over time. Duration has been reduced from 21 seconds to 15 seconds.
- Players feared outside of the Arena (through the world or outside
the arena walls) will now be teleported back to the center of the
arena map.

- Battlegrounds
- If a player dies 50 times or more in a battleground, they will no
longer be worth honor for the remainder of that battle.
- When you first enter a battleground, messages about other players
joining the battleground will be linked together for the first
minute. You will see a message in AV like “28 players joined” rather
than a line for each player that joined. After the first minute, it
will work as it always has. In addition, all of the messages about
other players leaving the battleground and getting marks of honor
once the battleground is complete have been removed.
- Battleground Rune Buffs:Speed, Restoration, and Berserking buffs
received from battleground runes will no longer cause Stealth or
Prowl to break.
- Alterac Valley
-Captain Balinda Stonehearthnow Stonehearth can no longer be
interrupted, silenced, or have her spells slowed. In addition, her
water elemental cannot be banished, and does increased damage.
Vanndar Stormpike and Captain Balinda Stonehearth have had their
health totals reduced to match the health totals of Drek’Thar and
Captain Galvangar.
- Warmasters/marshals in Alterac Valley now increase each other’s
maximum health and damage by 25%. This is a stacking effect.
Horde players will now start the battle closer to Drek’Thar and
Frostwolf Keep.
- There is now a Join as Party option.

- Warsong Gulch
- When both flags are held, the flag carriers will receive 50% increased damage done to them after approximately 10 minutes and 100% increased damage after approximately 15 minutes.
- Flag carriers can now be tracked 45 seconds after picking up the
flag.

– Fishing
- New Fishing Daily Quests! Visit the mysterious old man fishing at
Silmyr Lake outside of Shattrath City to discover what treasures he
has to offer.
- Find Fish now correctly tracks Schools of Tastyfish and Muddy
Churning Waters.
- Feltail fishing nodes have been changed to Brackish Mixed Schools;
they now produce mostly Golden Darters and some Feltail.
- Removed the level requirement from the expert fishing book, The Bass and You.

FYI My old car died, so I’ve been doing a lot of research to get a new (to me) one. My apologies for not being online very much.

Yes, boys and girls, apparently you can fish from the rock formation across the road from the pond! Considering our recent obsession with fishing I thought this was appropriate.

At first the queues were a bit long. We usually queue from Orgrimmar to prevent Organdonar from having fishing withdrawals. The queues at one point were around 7 minutes, so many of us took up the practice.

But eventually we got into AB and after that we won every game, usually with a 4-5 cap.

This was the first all-guild AB I’ve been in, and I wasn’t expecting anything magical. Keep in mind, my husband and I had run the high warlord grind groups back before the BC expansion.

Friday night fight

We weren’t doing it to be HWL, rather, we wanted to just PVP and have fun with other people. It was a well-oiled machine, but the thing that really sucked is usually it was a bunch of PVEers and they just wanted the title or the gear. Therefore, it took a long time for them to “get it.”

Our guild is a quick study, however. Yes there are still things to work on (like not over or underdefending). But we have the fight on the flag concept down.

One other note guildies: If we’re PVPing and you want to go, please ask. And if the officers are not online and a few of you want to PVP, go for it! Start a group. We love self-starters.
