Altdorf siege and a healer gear rant

Saturday morning we sieged Altdorf after pushing zones for several hours. After getting into Altdorf, however, we were unsuccessful in pushing to stage two. It appears the best defense from a city siege is no defense at all.
Of course there was the usual complaining on the forums about the broken city mechanic. Who can blame them? It seems in every patch, whether it be with inventory issues, Lost Vale or not seeing objectives on the map, something is broken.
What is more frustrating to me, however, is the impact gear has on the game. Gear matters far more than most people realize.
My ability to be successful as a healer depends on the gear I wear. That means if I want to PVP and avoid PVE, my choices are Annihilator or Warlord. The sets in between, Conqueror and Invader, are inadequate for a healing class.
This means I have to PVE for my gear: Sentinel, Darkpromise or Tyrant.
Even the difference between Sentinel and Invader for a healer is stunning: more Willpower, survivability and bonuses good for healers are on the Sentinel armor.
This is very frustrating for me because I can only play on weekends and one of my two days of play is usually dedicated to PVE to get better gear to PVP. Kind of a weak rant, I know, but something that’s been on my mind since we came to Phoenix Throne.
