LotDead Shadow Warriors

We thought we’d ruin some Order’s PVE by running in Land of the Dead for a while on Sunday. For such a highly touted expansion, there was hardly anyone there. But when Order gained control, a lowbie zerg of Shadow Warriors leaped off of a cliff we happened to be hiding behind. Most of them ended up at half health, or worse. They were easily dispatched.

Those aren't rocks, they're corpses.

Those aren't all rocks, they're corpses.

Yeah killing a bunch of lowbies wasn’t terribly challenging or brag worthy, but watching renown (albeit very little renown) falling from the skies was pretty entertaining.

Altdorf siege and a healer gear rant

Saturday morning we sieged Altdorf after pushing zones for several hours. After getting into Altdorf, however, we were unsuccessful in pushing to stage two. It appears the best defense from a city siege is no defense at all.

Of course there was the usual complaining on the forums about the broken city mechanic. Who can blame them? It seems in every patch, whether it be with inventory issues, Lost Vale or not seeing objectives on the map, something is broken.

What is more frustrating to me, however, is the impact gear has on the game. Gear matters far more than most people realize.

Best fights evar!

Sunday night was incredible! We ran with the Destro zerg for a while in Dragonwake and after the zone flipped, we stayed around the warcamp for some fun with Irony.

As you can tell from the picture, we only had eight players with us, five of whom were healers. We must have run around for five minutes before they killed even one of us. It felt good knowing that we stood toe-to-toe with one of the best guilds on Order side without losing. In the end, they gave up on the fight and went elsewhere.

Later in the night, we had a memorable keep defenses in Chaos Wastes. A group of Order had left to go to Black Crag to defend a keep. We preferred to remain where the fight was. We coordinated with other warbands to drive Order out of our keeps. Finally they returned with such numbers that we couldn’t defeat them. Many of us stayed up way past our bedtimes :p I imagine there are some sleepy people at work today.

Finally, we have been working hard to fit in to this roleplay environment. Someone in Temporal Space decided to start speaking in pirate jargon. Organdonar made a mod that helps us speak in pirate without having to think too hard. Soon we will send the mod to all in FOTF or TS who choose to use it. The pirate talk trend is also catching on with the general populace:

Sunday curbstomp

As per usual, the battles this weekend were amazing. In some cases, they were a bit more than we wanted. Sometimes we were outnumbered 3:1 or more. When we saw five Bright Wizards running at us followed by a sea of red, we got a bit frustrated and demoralized.

Understandable right? We decided to take the battle to a place we thought we could hold, the house BO in south Praag.

We were dominated there, too, but not without taking an equal number of Order down with us.  No, we didn’t install new carpet. Just look at all that napalm!

Our best fight of the day was at Squiggly Beast Pens when Destruction was trying to flip Black Crag. At the time I think we had eight people, and not all of them were 40. We wiped once, and just in time the reinforcement zerg came to res us and kill the enemy. It was grand.

Again and again, the Order force advanced, and yet we parted the red sea of names with ease. After all, we did have Moses on our side.

Lost Vale wasn’t as successful this past week. We didn’t get past Gorak (the lightning guy). Any tanks interested in running with us? Give us a holler. We run on Saturday mornings, 7 a.m. PST, but can probably change the time depending on need.

Altdorf push 1215

Fight on the Flag and Temporal Space helped Destro push two fortress zones and we entered into Altdorf instance 1215. We had a really good time. Sure, one guy complained that they had to *gasp* RVR in a PVP game. Overall we completed the PQ twice, and killed a *ton* of Order.

Unfortunately for progression’s sake, nobody in the lower levels queued for the city instance. That means it’s impossible for Destro to flip the city to stage 2. The change to the city capture mechanic cannot come quick enough.

Oompaloompa zerg

dwarvesSo Flags in Space ran some scenarios together and we managed to get into Logrins Forge. We checked out our opponents, as we always do, and noticed they were all dwarves.

I wish I had recorded the vent conversations. It was freaking hilarious.

“It’s like an adorable, terrifying zerg.”

“I feel like I’m killing puppies.”

“There’s this dwarf back here snaring me and rooting me… ”

“And biting your ankles?”

They were pushovers but they didn’t have far to fall.

We entered with the scenario with our flags drawn. As we pushed forward, a sneaky dwarf stole Contamination’s flag.

Krohm, you have made a mortal enemy. There is now a price on your head for the blatant theft of our precious flag!

The sheer size of the Order force is staggering. Really, have a look:

That’s not the entire force on the Order side in the Manor BO in Praag. I’m pretty sure they had a good force at each BO.

As a former guildie once said, “this is a target-rich environment.”

Fortunately this gives us a good chance to catch up in RR and gear. I don’t know if a recent patch changed the warlord crest drops or, if, because we are fighting higher RR people we are getting more by default. But I already have three warlord crests, whereas on Perle on Gorfang, I only ever got one in the entire time I was PVPing there.

Needless to say, we don’t leave much of a dent in their force.

Fields of blood

We are amazed and awed at the amount of RVR we have seen on Phoenix Throne so far.

This map represents Friday night at about 6:30 p.m. Pacific time. FotF is headed into the fray!

As we slowly accumulate Annihilator and Conquerer gear, we are getting less squishy. We stood toe to toe with one of the better Bright Wizard bomb groups on the server. I am confident once we get equivalent gear that they won’t stand a chance.

Apparently our guild is getting a bit of a reputation (if only for the guild name). I discourage bragging on forums. It’s sometimes hard not to provide advice without seeming like you’re bragging. I don’t want to come off as arrogant (oh but on this server we did it this way and it worked).

But sometimes you really can’t help it. We had a keep defense that everyone thought we would lose. The tank wall was rather massive, though, and I had every confidence that we would prevail. That is, until the people on the tank wall left the wall to chase down people who got past /facepalm.

We steered them (in a not-so-nice way) to get back onto the wall and hold fast. We prevailed and chased them out of the keep!

I anticipate more fun today and Sunday.
