Why run? You only die tired.
I think some people tend to forget that in a video game, you don’t die IRL. Why else would people be afraid to stand and fight Destro?

Case in point, the above Order player, whose name has been changed to protect the innocent for humerous effect, suggested I bring my warband somewhere else because we couldn’t flip Chaos Wastes (I know this was last weekend, but I’ve been slow on posting because RL suddenly got real busy).
But believe it or not, some people actually like doing something other than trying to stay awake and fight NPCs at battle objectives:

Yes, it’s true! Even Thursday morning, I was playing my White Lion and noticed Destro and Order avoiding each other on purpose. They both capped BOs in the same zone at the same time and then didn’t even try to fight each other. Here’s a hint: You get more renown by killing people than waiting on that tick. I know, I know, hard to believe.
Does anyone play this game for the RVE?
Finally, a screenshot from a ways back from an awesome fight in Caledor.

Good fights all. That Destro clump was formidable!

Ah,
I kinda understand where you guys are coming from now. I really didn’t understand this avoiding fight thing people were complaining about Neo. Neo takes bos and locks zones, also blocks locks by destro. There is plenty of time during the night that we fight destro, but it isn’t constant fighting players all the time. I can imagine the zone control game gets old when you have been doing it as long as you vet players have been so I respect that. I haven’t been doing it as long and have no problem with it, I like playing the zone control game and fighting destro at key points during the night. Probably because I still don’t quite have a grasp of it and able to lead a wb and know where they need to be at any given time during the night to keep zone control. Neo is very good at this and that is why I like following him.
I think Mythic needs to look at how Bf2142 works for zone control. That game has no NPCs. Just put longer timers to flip and make it worthwhile to players to come and defend it. Or maybe make bos resource/buff based and linear rather than wide open. This would force more choke points.
Bridge battles are just win in any game.
All respect to FotF and Perle, still think you are awesome.

Perle, KEG completely agrees with you. You’re awesome/ keep up the good work.

Nice post Perle. You know KEG will fight anywhere and anyone. Hell, we had a group of us the other night that were levels 29, 30, 31, 32, 36, 38, 40 that held off about half a WB of Destro while the Order zerg took a keep in Chaos Wastes. Destro came back with a full WB and STILL couldn’t wipe us and we held them off long enough that a group or 2 of Order hit them from behind and wiped them.
I absolutely HATE this running from fights crap. I, too, am a veteran DAoC player coming from several 8 mans. I’ve had success fighting off 30 – 40 people vs. our 8 in open field. Anytime you want to have a KEG group take on the enemy, we’ll do it! I’ve been putting together and trying to “train” my guildies on these types of fights. We’re getting better.

Heya guys, first off, I removed comment moderation. Sorry for the delay in approving those but I was at work.
Second, thanks for the accolades
It’s a lot of fun playing this game with people who actually listen.
Finally, @Joker. It’s not that I don’t care about zone control. I do when the time is right. Often, though, the zone flip would happen at a bad time of day, or there’s not enough of the people online that I trust to run with. I think a lot of people want to flip zones just for the tokens.

I understand Perle, did not mean to imply anything negative about the way you play at all. I don’t believe you have any weakness in your game. I’ve run with Neo before there were any rewards for flipping zones. No renown, no tokens no nothing, and we did the exact same thing then as we do now, just to clarify. Also your website updates are great reads, thanks for taking the time.
